        Mr. James Poppe's Game.

This is the first D.O.G.S. game.
This game will be run at its own mailing list.
          James Poppe is the GM.
The following are two notes from Mr. Poppe posted on our
          General Discussion list.:

        Howdy y'all....

Since I'm running that first game, I need to let everyone know to send me characters and I'll forward the addy of the players to Jorn for approval onto the mailing list for the first game.

        A couple of hints...

        1) I like to see backgrounds... gives me an idea of both your writing abilities as well as the history (if any exists) for the character.

        2) While experienced characters are welcome, I like seeing the newbie runners as well.

        3) Be different... the "I'm a badass Samurai who spends 3 hours a day in katas" is a tad bit over done.

        4) Give the runner a personality. My personal favourite of mine was my tribesmen from the Deserts of Cal Free. (a sorcery adept... called him Moayhdib).

        5) HAVE FUN WITH THE character... Min/Max characters aren't any fun once all hell breaks lose.

        OK...

        couple more quick comments.

        1. PUT the background in the email ..... I've had three backgrounds copied over because people are attaching them to their email message. My sorter automatically puts the attachments in a folder and voila, similar named files overwrite each other.

        2. Send the characters via PRIVATE email to me... some people MAY want to read your characters, but not all of them I think.

        3. If you intend on using something a little power hungry (alpha grade cyber on up, netbooks, etc.), I'll give a choice... remove it or create another character. In ALL of my gaming experience as a SR GM, I've had ONE piece of beta cyberware even available for my players... and it cost nearly a 100 times Seattle street value. Needless to say, I'm NOT a MONTY HAUL GM and I'm not going to start you out with anything super-duper dangerous.

        4. Here are a few points I need to make (general ones)....

        - NO bioware for starting characters. Experienced character better have an explaination handy.
        - SOME cyberware doesn't exist in my game (the upgrades to Datajack and Smartlink II are prime examples).
        - Initiations REQUIRE a teacher for GRADE 0, no exceptions. - Edges and Flaws are available to characters created using the point system described in the Companion.
        - NO NETBOOK material, I have most of the FASA published stuff (or can get ahold of a copy to check something out).

This should give you an idea of what Mr. Poppe is looking for in characters for his game.

As soon as this game has started, Jorn will start two types of short experimental games. More info about this later....
